Vein Therapy
Now there is good news for patients interested in removing embarrassing
unsightly leg veins without painful injections or incisions. The CoolGlide(TM)
Aesthetic Laser System now makes it possible to treat a wide range of skin
types safely and effectively.
The CoolGlide(TM) system's long pulse Nd: YAG laser light is delivered through
an actively-cooled hand piece, which glides comfortably across the skin,
removing unsightly spider veins. Treatment with the CoolGlide(TM) system is
non-invasive and quick with no painful injections.
Long-term success varies from patient to patient and vessel to vessel.
Many facial vessels (telangiectasia) require only one or two treatments.
Multiple treatments are usually required for optimum results of vessels in
the legs. Capillaries are tiny blood vessels present throughout the body.
Hereditary factors, prolonged sun exposure, aging, trauma and other
factors can cause capillaries to become dilated and visible.
The CoolGlide(TM) system can treat the widest range of skin types because of
its innovative technology, cooling hand piece and treatment flexibility.
Now we can customize each treatment, matching the appropriate treatment
with the patient’s skin type.

Most patients experience a stinging
sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece.
Although no local anesthetic or pain medication is typically required,
some patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment.
Discomfort is minimal to nonexistent following a treatment.
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown
significant improvement within 2-6 weeks. However, your final results may
not be apparent for several months. Overtime, it is possible for new veins
to appear, but these too can be treated.
Patients are generally permitted to resume most normal activities
immediately. However, when treating leg veins, it is recommended you avoid
vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise and hot baths for the first
48 hours after treatment. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any
treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit
your sun exposure.
